Vacation Time: Packing

Vacation Time: Packing

Vacation time is here in full swing! Summer vacations are the most eventful, memory filled time and one thing you don’t want to worry about is making sure if you packed enough sunscreen.

Growing up in the pacific northwest, weather can be fairly unpredictable. I pack my car with a change of clothes- extra undergarments, jeans, shorts, a tee shirt, sweater, and jacket. I never know what the weather will be like. It may be windy and rainy in town one minute or hot and humid another depending on where I plan on going on a trip.

Here is a quick list of things one should always remember to pack when getting ready to go away for a weekend, a week or months on end.

Clothing– If you know what the weather will be like, pack for what is needed. If not pack an array of them, and for as many days as you are staying plus an extra just in case there is no washer or dryer and the flight was canceled or delayed.

Phone/ device chargers- life-saving to keep your device and charged and ready to play games on.

Extra shoes-I find that I need another pair of shoes, flip flop, and running shoes, maybe even a fancy pair for a dinner date night.

Simple accessories– a couple of pairs of earrings, a necklace and my watch are what I pack

Garment or laundry bag– Gotta keep those dirty clothes separate from the clean one especially if you know you won’t be near a washer or drying anytime soon.

Light windbreaker or jacket– the airport is super chilly and I find that even a light jacket helps keep me warm until I reach my destination

A book, notebook a pen and/or game– I usually bring all items. This depends on who I am traveling with. A while ago while traveling I ended up playing cards with some people. It was great.

Itinerary and schedule– I like a little wiggle room myself when it comes to certain vacations. If a massage is scheduled to the same time as snorkeling with the dolphins I may have to figure out a way to reschedule one or the other.

  1. Nice post. I just traveled for two nights for fun but in an area with variable weather. Isn’t it amazing how much stuff you need when you aren’t exactly sure what you’ll need?
