How Affirmations Helped Me

When I first learned about how my thoughts and my perspective create my reality, I learned that affirmations were a great way to help install a better mindset. I am literally what I think about and what I affirm to myself. Our thoughts become things. So if I am consistently think bad about myself, that’s what I will become. If I say I am valuable I will become valuable.

“I am…”

I find anything that follows the words “I am” creates a connection to your mind and what you want to become. There is quite the mental battled I endured with myself while doing this and at times I felt I wasn’t making any progress. I felt the need to test it somehow. It wasn’t until I saw results in my actions that I saw that all my visualizing and affirming was paying off. As if my mind was helping me make those conscious decisions on being wealthy, more intelligent or confident.

Sure, at first I thought it was a superstition but after a few weeks of writing affirmations and visualizing how I wanted to feel while saying them, I felt empowered. In a way, I had reprogramed my thinking about myself and the world around me. I didn’t feel so anxious when going into new situations but excited. Instead of thinking of my day job as a way to survive, I think of it as a way to socialize and make connections. If I made a mistake, instead of feeling bad about it, I learned from it, and what I could improve upon.

To not make it feel like a chore, I change up the affirmations everyday I used a different set of affirmations- for success, confidence, health, wealth, love, etc. For example, if I am feeling doubtful I used confidence affirmations.

“Believe it, see it!”

Visualization is key to using affirmations. Without feeling and seeing my actions in play in my head I felt anxious about the next steps. In visualizing I focused on the end result and how I would feel if I accomplished it. What would that looks like, taste, smell and feel like? When I visualize I am usually in a meditative state, after focusing on the things I am grateful for, I then focus on my goals and how I want to accomplish them. Keeping a picture in my head of the end result helps me keep the goal attainable and manages my anxiety.

Below are some affirmations I use.   

  • Money comes frequently and easily
  • I am wealthy
  • I am healthy
  • I am successful in anything I do
  • I am a powerful creator
  • I am calm, confident and powerful as I take on new challenges
  • I am happy and free because I am me
  • My actions create constant wealth, prosperity and abundance
  • I am a money magnet
  • Wealth constantly flows into my life
