This prompt is from 642 Tiny Things to Write About by The San Francisco Writers’ Grotto. This book has some awesome prompts and great way to get those creative juices flowing! I post every Sunday!
Prompt: The toast you give at a wedding. You are secretly and hopelessly in love with the bride/groom.
Response: “I have known this guy for awhile now. <Points to groom and talks to the audience> He came off a little out of the ordinary. First off he was friendly. Always smiling. Most guys I had met in the past, were standoffish and weren’t direct. He was just the opposite. Confidence radiated from him. After all he hit the gym a lot before we met. <Flexes muscles> As I grew to know him he has evolved into a more confident man, in himself and his skills and abilities. He was always learning, growing and teaching others what he had learned. Once he made you your <pauses to look at the groom and back at the audience> friend he was loyal to you in all aspects. Lifting you up when you needed it and always encouraging you to go for you goals and dreams. He would help out where ever he could and sometimes taking time away from himself to help you out. So many conversations, time and fun with this guy. I hope you know my dear <Talking to the bride> how blessed and lucky you are to have him in your life. Now as <chokes up a little> your husband and best friend. He will push you to better yourself. Make you laugh uncontrollably. Take you to places you never been. Those are just a few things I have always loved about him. He will not give up on you. Love you, man. Take care of her. And, my dear, you take care of him. Cherish every moment, be his rock when he needs it, be his confidant, because this <draws a heart around them> is your chapter now. Congratulations to the bride and the groom!”
